Hickory Creek of Athens is searching for a Director of Nursing to join our team! Hickory Creek is a team-oriented nursing home dedicated to ensuring the best care and quality of life for our residents.

Director of Nursing (DON) Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility and will ensure that we are maintaining the highest degree of quality care.
  • Performing the responsibilities that contribute to the compliance of local, state and federal regulations.
  • Manage, supervise and evaluate through the performance improvement process for staff assigned.
  • Develops, coaches and supports professional/non-professional staff assigned in performance of daily operational responsibilities.
  • Oversee Restorative STNA, communicates with Therapy and Nursing for transition of residents from Therapy to Nursing. Oversees the facilities special clinical programs as assigned
  • Coordinate the completion of Minimum Data Set Plus and Interdisciplinary Care Plan. Assists to maintain quality documentation in the Nursing Dept.
  • Implement corrective counseling, suspension and termination proceedings of nursing staff in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and Human Resources, as appropriate.
  • Monitor Clinical Nursing Programs through the use of the Quality Indicators.
  • Participate in long-range planning to meet evolving health care and organizational needs as requested.
  • Participate in facility meetings as appropriate and requested.
  • In the absence of the Director of Nursing, carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the organization and all federal and state laws regarding the privacy of protected health information.
  • Manage Wound Care.

Director of Nursing (DON) Requirements:
  • Must be an RN and have a valid RN license in good standing.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients.
  • Must be a team player and enjoy working with others.
  • Must be able to make individual decisions.
  • Must be able to interact with various personalities.
