Get to Know our Social Services Designee
March 25, 2022
March is Social Worker Month, and we would like to shine our light on our incredible Social Services Designee, Jennifer Coen! Thank you, Jen, for everything you do for The Creek, we appreciate you more than you know!
"My name is Jennifer Coen, and I live in Nelsonville, Ohio. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Josh, for 23 years. We have three children; Emily, Christapher, and Katie. We also have our little fur baby Max and four granddaughters; Hayley, Natalee, Ryleigh, and Shayli. I love spending quality time with my family and being outdoors. Josh and I spend a lot of our summer days hiking, camping, and fishing. During the winter months, we love getting our children and grandchildren together to go sleigh riding and play in the snow.
Jennifer Coen - Social Services Designee at Hickory Creek
I have been an employee at Hickory Creek for almost three years. I started working at Hickory as an STNA in May of 2019. On my 2nd-year anniversary date, I moved up into the position of social services at Hickory and have been in this position for almost a year. It has always been my dream to work in a position such as social services so I could spend every day helping others. The day I received the offer letter for my position was honestly one of the best days of my life.
My favorite part about working at Hickory Creek is knowing that every day when I come to work I can make a difference in someone else’s life. Working in social services has been the most rewarding job I have ever had. The residents here at Hickory are not just people we take care of daily; they are our family. One of the hardest decisions anyone ever has to make is the decision of putting their loved ones in a long-term facility. I make it my personal goal to help each resident and their family make that transition as easy as possible. When we have a family come into the facility looking for long-term care, I want them to know that each and every one of us will work hard every day to make sure that their loved one receives the best care that they deserve.
If I have any advice for a new hire or resident/family it is this; we are not only a team here, we are family. I want them to know that if they ever need anything, I will help them in any way that I can. Nothing warms my heart more than to see someone else succeed in life. If I can offer any assistance to help them reach their goal, then I will do everything I can to help make that happen.”
