Remembering Linda Carper: A Tribute to a Beloved Friend

Last week, we had friends, family, coworkers, and residents gather together to pay tribute and honor one of our dear friends and beloved coworkers, who dedicated her entire life to Hickory Creek, Linda Carper (Miller). Unfortunately, we lost Linda unexpectedly this summer, and we have all been mourning her loss. Hickory will never quite be the same, but Linda’s impact on the building will last forever. To memorialize her, we held a ceremony where we unveiled a bench in her honor that will keep her with us every day. We invited her family, coworkers, and residents and had refreshments while we all shared beautiful memories of our beautiful friend.



Linda began her nursing career at Hickory Creek when the building first opened in the ‘80s. She was truly the most kind and caring person you would ever encounter. Linda was someone who had a very gentle voice and always made you feel calm in her presence. She was not just a coworker; she was a friend to many and was always willing to help anyone with anything. She was the type of person that people felt comfortable confiding in.

Words could never do justice to the person she was or the love that we had and still have for her. The memorial service we had did not feel like enough to thank her for all the years she gave to us, but we wanted to do something to honor her memory. Linda loved Hickory Creek and we thought what better way to keep her memory here with us forever than by having a bench right out front to remind us of her every time we enter the doors.



We wanted to thank Linda’s husband and family who joined us last week to unveil the bench in Linda’s honor. We loved having them there to share from their perspective just how much Linda truly loved Hickory Creek. Although there was never doubt in any of our minds of what this place meant to her, we can only hope she knew how much she meant to us. We are beyond honored and lucky to have had someone as dedicated, kind, caring, compassionate, and truly a wonderful human being who gave her precious time to make a positive difference every day at Hickory Creek. We love you and miss you dearly, Linda! Thank you for everything.
