Thanking Our Registered Nutritionist

As dedicated professionals, our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists put resident care first and focus on a nutrition plan that fits within their restrictions, helping our residents meet their health goals. They are experts in food and nutrition and a vital part of our team. We are so appreciative to have them at our facility. In honor of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists Day, we are highlighting our wonderful Dietitian, Heather Figueroa, DTR, CDM, CFPP!

Heather has worked at Hickory Creek of Athens for 27 years and is a huge asset to the company. She is from The Plains and has lived in the Athens area her whole life. Heather is a mother of two sons, Daniel and Jonathan. She is a graduate of Athens High School and has an associate's degree in Nutritional and Dietetics from Hocking College and a bachelor's degree in Technical and Applied Studies from Ohio University.



Heather's grandmother, Frances Mason, was the first resident at Hickory Creek when it opened in 1980. Frances even married the love of her life here at the facility, James Richards, in 2016. Her mother, Barbara, was a resident here as well. Our facility has been in her family for generations, and we believe Heather is meant to be here!

Heather has a passion for working with the elderly and is an advocate for our Veteran residents. She has been a 5-year member of the Athens Area Stand Down Committee and received a community award in 2021. She is active in the VFW Auxiliary and is currently the Department of Ohio Youth Chairman. Heather is also running for the Department of Ohio VFW Auxiliary Guard. She hopes to move up through the chairs to become the Ohio VFW Department of Ohio Auxiliary President.
