Valentine's Activities at Hickory Creek of Athens
February 14, 2020The Plains, Ohio - We would like to applaud our Activities Department here at Hickory Creek. They always go above and beyond to make sure our residents have the best parties, festivities, outings, and the most creative things to do. Today we are having a Valentine's Day party for them. The residents made valentines to give out to each other and to the staff. We had visitors from Sech-Kar ADS come to the facility to pass out handmade valentines to each resident as well. The Valentine's celebration included a chocolate fountain, craft table, music, and a special valentine’s game of BINGO! The residents even picked a special meal during their Resident Council meeting to be served in celebration of Valentine's Day; soup beans and ham, fried potatoes, green beans, and cherry pie. There were 140 balloons purchased from Family Dollar by members of the Glouster community to be delivered and handed out to the residents. Our residents have definitely had a pretty awesome Valentine's Day! Thank you again to everyone in our activities department for always making our residents feel so special and loved!
Speaking of our Activities Department, our Activities Director, Ashlye, works with the residents each month to develop a calendar incorporating all of their favorite activities. They work together to come up with creative and new events as well! Each day of the week there are at least four activities they can attend. The amount of activities typically increases to accommodate holidays and special occasions. The Activities Department does a wonderful job of developing activities specific to the population we serve. For example, in our locked unit, we have specialized diversional activities available 24/7!
