A Spooktacular October at Hickory Creek of Athens
November 3, 2023
Hickory Creek had a busy October full of events, sweets, activities, and laughter! We kicked off the month with pumpkin painting for our residents. Each resident used their creativity to paint their pumpkin spooky, then placed them around the facility for all to enjoy. They got to show off their work and they made the perfect fall decoration!
Throughout the Halloween-packed season, we made sure to bring awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month with our "Pink Out!" Staff and residents participated by wearing pink, enjoying pink treats, and winning pink prizes during Bingo. During this time, it's important to take a moment to consider treatments, prevention, and research, all while being aware of the signs and symptoms. It's vital for everyone to receive proper education about the significance of women's health and to continually bring awareness.
We finished out the month with a bang with our annual Trunk-or-Treat! This community event was huge, and we could not be more thankful for everyone's participation. We had a total of 16 trunks decorated, 12 local businesses that donated candy, two special guests who came to help out from our sister facility, Waterview Pointe, and a whole lot of other people who were ready for some candy!
We sourced locally for our coffee and hot chocolate with Spices of Life, which was a fan favorite. There were plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy including a bounce house, which was brought in by Meigs Inflatables, and a face painter. Our residents' favorite part was handing out candy to the kids and seeing all their fun costumes. We can’t thank everyone enough for helping with this event, and we can’t wait to host again next year!
But we didn't stop there: we couldn't end spooky season without our annual Resident Halloween Bash! Our residents look forward to this every year because of the sweet treats, popcorn, and punch. They shared many laughs and smiles with the different photo stations that were set up around the facility. Our staff enjoyed dressing up and using the photo booths too!
Already, we're looking forward to planning next year's spooky celebrations, knowing that these events strengthen our community bonds and fill our hearts with warmth. We hope everyone had a great Halloween!
