Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
July 11, 2022
Last month we celebrated Alzheimer’s Awareness Month at Hickory Creek. This is a month of awareness instated by late president Ronald Reagan who passed away in 2004 due to his own battle with the disease. Alzheimer’s is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and can be as much of a battle for the individual diagnosed as it can be for their family and loved ones. The biggest struggles family members face when caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s is the frustration and grieving that comes with the loss of the person they used to know.

“When someone develops memory loss, they should see their doctor to find out what is causing it. It is possible to make a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease with a high degree of certainty. If initial screening tests are positive, additional evaluation is warranted.”
- Dr. Suchan who has been working with patients with Alzheimer’s for the past 32 years.
