May Highlights: Finding Joy Every Day
June 4, 2024
What a whirlwind of joy National Nursing Home Week was at Hickory Creek of Athens! Each day was a kaleidoscope of excitement and appreciation, highlighting the vibrancy of life within our community.
Kicking off with a delightful Mother's Day Tea, we set the tone for a week brimming with Radiant Memories. Ben Katzara's cake and music added a sweet touch to the festivities, setting the stage for the days ahead.
From the nostalgia of an old-time radio show to the crack of the bat on Baseball Day, every moment was a home run. Our residents savored hot dogs and crackerjacks, transported back to simpler times with the crackle of the radio broadcasting an old baseball game.
Wednesday's sock hop and Soda shop brought Elvis into our midst, alongside cheeseburgers, fries, and cherry coke floats that sparked conversations and smiles all around.
Disco fever took over on Thursday, as legs boogied and Jell-o Molds jiggled to the beat. The energy was infectious as staff and residents grooved together, celebrating the joy of movement and music.
And as the week drew to a close, we indulged in a feast for the senses with Dr. May's Thai Kitchen, the Burrito Buggy, and Angie's Ice Cream Truck. Joe Burdock's music added the perfect soundtrack to a picnic-style gathering, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air.
National Nursing Home Week is more than just a series of events; it's a testament to the spirit of community and connection that thrives within our walls. It's a time to honor not only our residents but also the families, staff, volunteers, and wider community who make our home truly special.
